Roosting Vase

After a walk in the forest I found myself wondering why some trees had holes in them.  A friend shared with me that woodpeckers are the artists behind these marks, drilling into the wood with their rhythmic tapping.

Inspired by this, I started exploring with clay,  I began making holes in the clay, then moved on to create standing forms.  This playful experiment gave way to what I now call the Roosting Vase.
