Queen Victoria reimagined
For this commissioned installation at the Fairmont Empress in Victoria, I created ceramic adornments to be layered over existing portraits of Queen Victoria. The textured, organic forms introduce a tactile contemporary element to the historic painting, creating a dialogue between heritage, transformation, and the natural world.
The ceramic elements, each shaped by hand, are ready to be affixed to the painting, bringing texture, transformation, and a contemporary layer to this historic portrait.
These commissioned works are now on display indefinitely at the Empress Bar in the Fairmont Empress Hotel, Victoria. A contemporary ceramic intervention layered over historic imagery, they bring together texture, transformation, and the enduring character of this iconic space.
